1.Highlights of the Region: Half-Day Tour from Haugesund

★★★★★★★★★★4.7 · 167 reviews · 4 hours · from $107Our pick

From Haugesund’s cruise pier, ride a modern air-conditioned coach around Karmøy with an English or German-speaking guide. See Visnes and its Statue of Liberty link, Åkrasanden Beach, Skudeneshavn’s wooden streets, and Avaldsnes Church. Guides such as Darlene add local stories, music, and Norwegian samples.

“Excellent tour. Darlene was informative, friendly, and delightful. We saw many interesting sites and gained perspective of life in this smaller beautiful Norwegian fishing town. We made an impromptu stop at fish specialty store for samples, and we adjusted our route to avoid a funeral service so as to get to a historic old church. Darlene is a Norwegian native, but grew up in the USA so her English was perfect. And at one point, she pulled out her accordion and played and sang several toons for us, it was so charming. We would recommend this tour to anyone.”

“We had booked months ago for a 10.30am start, with instructions to arrive 10 mins before departure time. On arrival at 10am we were the last on the bus as apparently. They had sent two emails and tried to phone us to advise of an earlier start time of 10am!!! No email or missed calls received. Anyway lucky we are always early and made it on the trip. Interesting history on our journey around. Three stops at viewpoints and sites. Aporox 10 mins at each. Nice short trip to get a feel for the town.”

“Enjoyed all the information we received about Viking life. Our guide was excellent. He has dual citizenship in Norway and Australia and was well spoken with great insights into Norwegian life too. The farm was very interesting. The young lady in costume that was our guide there was very knowledgeable about Viking life. We found the visit to Viking planet to be very informative. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to take pictures with a green screen that turned us into Vikings. Would recommend this if you want to understand the Viking history and lifestyle.”
